Cannabis Consumption 101: A Beginner’s Guide

It’s been around forever, you’ve seen people toking on spliffs, hitting bongs, or vaping.. well, vapes for as long as you’ve been watching television. But there’s a big assumption that you should know what you’re during! Well, if you’re new to using cannabis you’re probably wondering what the best ways to consume it are.

Here at canzen we spend a lot of the time looking at the deep details but in this article we’ll dial it right back as we discuss the most popular ways to consume cannabis, as well as their pros and cons. Let’s dive in!

Hopefully this doesn’t remain the case but the most common way to consume cannabis is by smoking it. Smoking can be done in a variety of ways, such as through a joint, a bong, or a pipe. Smoking is the fastest way to get the effects of cannabis, but it can be harsh on your throat and lungs. You can do what you like but we’d never recommend smoking of course, for the obvious reasons.

A great alternative way to consume cannabis is by eating it in the form of edibles. This can be done by adding cannabis to foods and getting creative, such as with a CBD spice mix, or brownies and cookies, or by taking cannabis edibles such as gummies, oils, or chocolates. Eating cannabis does take longer to have an effect than vaping or smoking, so you should start with a low dose and work your way up. We have plenty of highly rated edibles on our store that we would highly recommend starting with

Another option for consuming cannabis is vaping. Vaping is relatively new in the grand scheme of things. It involves heating cannabis flower to produce a vapor that is inhaled, or alternatively e-liquids mixed with an extract to produce a vapor that is inhaled. Vaping is a great way to get the effects of cannabis without the harshness of smoking. To be honest this is our favourite and is even the recommended method by medicinal cannabis providers.

Finally, you can also consume cannabis through topical products, such as creams and lotions or bath bombs. Topical just means that they are applied directly to the skin which makes them great for targeting specific areas of the body. Topicals are a great way to get the effects of cannabis without having to inhale or ingest it, we know a lot of people who don’t like inhaling things and it’s great to have some options.

Now that you know the different ways to consume cannabis, let’s take a quick look at a summary of the pros and cons of each method.

This is by no means an extensive list, just a quick one for comparison

No matter which method of cannabis consumption you choose just start with a low dose and then work your way up. Have fun though 🙂
